INTERESTING DISCOVERIES ABOUT BLOOD TYPES

In 1930, scientist Dr. Landsteiner won the Nobel Prize for medicine for isolating blood types and giving the principle of blood transfusion.

In humans, there are 2 blood group systems, the ABO system has 4 blood types: A, B, O, AB, in which the type O blood predominates with about 45% of the population, the type B blood accounted for 28.3 %, type A blood accounted for 21.2% and  type AB blood accounted for 5.5%. The Rhesus blood group system includes Rh(+) and Rh(-); in which, Rh (+) rate is about 99.92% and type Rh(-) blood is a very rare blood group about 0.08%.

Study: Modeling suggests blood group incompatibility may significantly reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission.

With the search and isolation of blood groups, scientists have explained a lot of interesting things about the human body. Many studies report that blood type A might predispose one to increased susceptibility of infection with SARS-CoV-2, and type O and Rh(-) blood groups might be protective.( by Young Kim  et al.)

In this large, combined, ambispective cohort study of Japanese women, older women with blood type O had a higher risk of developing GDU than those with other blood types. (according to the study Lobna Alkebsi  et al.).

Early etiological studies indicate that type O blood is associated with increased rates of cholera, tuberculosis, and mumps infections, while type A blood is associated with increased rates of smallpox and Pseudomonas aeruginosase; blood type B is also associated with increased rates of gonorrhea, tuberculosis and Streptococcus pneumoniae, E. coli and salmonella infections; and AB blood group are associated with increased rates of smallpox and E. coli and salmonella. The incidence of cancers of the stomach, ovary, salivary glands, cervix, uterus, and colon/rectum is more common in people with blood type A than in people with blood type O.

Another interesting discovery with blood groups, when you know what blood type you have, you can know what personality type you have (according to research Nomi further developed from Furukawa’s theory)

  • Blood type A: Cautious about new actions, also pursue stability, but sometimes obsessed and burst into a rage. Desire for molting. Always try to improve. Take a brave action in an emergency. Go step by step after convinced. Formula-like. Prudent judgement, although draw the clear line. Strongly suppressive outside vs violent inside. Recover slowly after got hurt. Concentrate on one at a time.
  • Blood Type B: Look for a life with much freedom. Particularly dislike rules or formulas. Do not hesitate to take new actions. Tend to be absorbed in strongly interested things. Multitasking and go overboard. Quick and flexible judgements. Pragmatic and do not draw the line. Emphasize scientific accuracy and validity. Feelings sway, moody. Frankly express anger or sorrow.
  • Blood type O: Purpose oriented. Head straight for a target. Great achievement power. However, do not endure meaninglessness. Give up early if no good. Weigh losses against gains correctly. Hold a belief. Articulate and logical, but somewhat straight. Simple minded in part. Emotions are usually stable and do not linger. Deeply moved. Lose heart when cornered.
  • Blood type AB: Good reflexes, business-like efficiency. Quick and easy understanding. Rationality itself. Good critic and analyst, multi-angle interpretation. Duality with a calm, cool stable side and an easily disturbed side with sentimental fragility. Able to do everything accurately. Good at designing but not cleaning up. Smiling and soft, but keep a certain distance from others

And there are many interesting things about blood type waiting for us to discover in the future.
